The village of Blagaj is home to a unique Dervish monastery (Tekke) founded during the Ottoman Empire. Such spiritual places in any religion are often built in places of immense natural splendour and spiritual feeling and this provides a great example.
Easily found just a 15 min drive south of Mostar, this beautiful old monastery is tucked away at the base of an immense cliff and at the source of the Riva Buna.
The monastery is open to visitors for 2€ where you visit the sacred shrines of Sari Saltuk and Achik Basha. There is an interesting, informative tour for very little money.
Relax, unwind and enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee and the sound of the river or visit one of the many restaurants adjoining the riverbank sharing the view for lunch. This is a good place to visit for a short stop after visiting a busy Mostar.
