SLANO

Slano is a beautiful fishing village, with a couple of local bars, a tourist shop and a mini market.

THE VILLAGE

As you arrive in the village there is a hotel that takes up the main shingle beach, but you can park to the left of the hotel (payable) and then walk to the end of the narrow road to a beautiful sandy, quiet beach with shallow, warm, very clean water. Sunbathing is on a concreted area or the rocks but is still pleasant.

If you drive there be warned it is very narrow and any “locals” will have right of way! There is a small area at the end to park. As there are no beach facilities, when you are ready to eat etc drive back to the hotel, pass in front of it and bear left. Continue along this road until you come to an area of restaurants. You can park here.

In Slano we recommend the Restaurant Mirakul which is welcome break from the sun as it is situated just off the beach on a tree-covered terrace (the building doesn’t look too special but it is nice on the terrace). When you park, the restaurant is on your left as you face the sea. Mirakul has a varied menu for all, with some different salads to choose from. It was reasonably priced, clean and service was excellent last time we visited.

Journey time 35-min approx. – a stunning coastal drive with plenty of other beaches to stop off and try en route.

Head over the Croatian border to the mini roundabout, bear left to the T junction. Turn right and just follow the road along the coast road, past Dubrovnik towards Split. When you see the sign for Slano turn off left, down to the coast.

Directions to Mirakul:
On arrival in Slano, take the road running to the right of the hotel (opposite direction from the beach we recommend) until you come to a small car park. Park here and the restaurant is on your left as you face the sea. The building doesn’t look too special but it is nice on the terrace.
